After receiving my Ph.D. from the Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Tokyo in 2010, I have pursued research on the mechanisms of cellular stress responses at the University of Tokyo, the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, the National Institutes of Health, and the University of Pittsburgh in the United States.
By combining molecular and cellular biology, genetic analysis using CRISPR–Cas9 genome editing, and various omics technologies, my research has focused on elucidating the molecular mechanisms by which cells sense environmental stress and changes in metabolic state, and subsequently activate adaptive responses. I have also investigated small-molecule compounds that modulate stress responses, with the aim of clarifying their mechanisms of action and physiological activities.
In recent years, my research has centered on intracellular organelles, including the nucleolus, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum, with the goal of understanding novel mechanisms by which these organelles play central roles in the regulation of stress responses. Moving forward, I aim to further explore the relationship between fluctuations in intracellular metabolites or endogenous small molecules and organelle-mediated signaling. Through these studies, I hope to contribute to a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of human diseases and aging, and ultimately to the development of new drug discovery strategies.
Drawing on the international collaborative networks I have built over the years, as well as collaborations with researchers within the university, I hope to contribute to the advancement of interdisciplinary research and to the education and development of the next generation of scientists.
I am truly honored to have the opportunity to pursue research and education in the historic city of Kyoto, and I sincerely look forward to working with you all.

My name is Yusuke Sekine, and I joined the Department of Organelle Signaling, Graduate School of Pharmaceutica […]

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[18

post-35895","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-notice-en
["GET
