I then earned my Ph.D. (Science) in March 2026 under the supervision of Professor Shigeru Yanagi at the Graduate School of Natural Science, Gakushuin University.
\nDuring my time in the Yanagi Laboratory, my research focused on the analysis of organelle contact sites, with a particular emphasis on
\nmitochondria. Although mitochondria require iron for energy production, the detailed mechanisms of its supply have not been fully understood. I discovered that the regions of close proximity between mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) play a crucial role in supplying iron to mitochondria, and I have been working to elucidate the underlying regulatory mechanisms.
\nMoving forward, in collaboration with Professor Sekine and our students, I aim to clarify how organelles coordinate with one another
\nwhen cells respond to stress, as well as to uncover the regulatory mechanisms mediated by endogenous small molecules, such as iron
\ncomplexes.
\nI want to share with our students the fascination of unraveling the intricate mechanisms that maintain cellular homeostasis and the phenomena occurring within cells at the molecular level. I am committed to fostering an environment where students can truly experience the joy of scientific research.
\nJust as organelles cooperate and function harmoniously within a cell, I hope to advance my research through active collaboration with many faculty members and colleagues.
\nI kindly ask for your guidance and support, and I look forward to working with you all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
My name is Hijiri Oshio, and I assumed the position of Assistant Professor at the Laboratory of Organelle Sign […]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":11,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_bbp_topic_count":0,"_bbp_reply_count":0,"_bbp_total_topic_count":0,"_bbp_total_reply_count":0,"_bbp_voice_count":0,"_bbp_anonymous_reply_count":0,"_bbp_topic_count_hidden":0,"_bbp_reply_count_hidden":0,"_bbp_forum_subforum_count":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[18],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-35900","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-notice-en"],"acf":[],"jetpack_publicize_connections":[],"jetpack_featured_media_url":"","jetpack_sharing_enabled":true,"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35900","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=35900"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35900\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":35901,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/35900\/revisions\/35901"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=35900"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=35900"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.pharm.kyoto-u.ac.jp\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=35900"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
