Collaboration with Other Departments and Affiliate Subdivisions

Education and research are conducted in cooperation with the Institute for Chemical Research, Department of Pharmacy at Kyoto University Hospital, Graduate School of Biostudies and Institute for Virus Research as affiliate divisions. Advanced education on life information science for the Division of Bioinformatics and Chemical Genomics is also provided in collaboration with the Bioinformatics Center of the Institute for Chemical Research. In addition, advanced practical education for pharmacists is conducted in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy at Kyoto University Hospital and the Center for Medical Education, etc. And, the “Training Program of Leaders for Integrated Medical System for Fruitful Healthy-Longevity Society” (FY2012–2018) under the “Program for Leading Graduate Schools” initiated by the Ministry of Education‚ Culture‚ Sports‚ Science and Technology was set up in collaboration with the Graduate School of Medicine and the Graduate School of Engineering with the goal of educating and cultivating new-generation human resources who will devise solutions to issues raised by an aging society and drive development of a comprehensive medical care system that integrates medical care, pharmaceutical sciences and human welfare. Meanwhile, a Research Unit for Physiological Chemistry (FY2011–2015) was established in the Center for the Promotion of Interdisciplinary Education and Research, in collaboration with the Graduate School of Agriculture, with the goal of conducting advanced research and developing human resources based on the drive to create a new academic field of physiological chemistry relating to food and health.
